Inflection Point: Thirty Years of WCA/NH

Gail Smuda: Spread, Textile, 14×28
A Curated Exhibition of Works by Members of the New Hampshire Chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art and WCA Chapters in the Northeastern Region
September 8, 2025 thru October 31, 2025
To celebrate our 30th anniversary, WCA/NH is mounted a large exhibition featuring multiple works from each of our founders, along with works from current WCA/NH members and other chapter WCA members residing in Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
Mathematically, an inflection point is the point on a curve where the curvature changes from concave to convex or vice versa. The term is now popularly used to describe a moment when significant change occurs or may occur.
Members considered the following:
- Turning points in your life when your art made a dramatic breakthrough. A “Take II Moment” when you diverged from a style, repurposed an old work and took it to a new direction, or explored new inspirations and methods.
- Is there a compelling idea inspiring your work today—be it historical, scientific, political, mathematical, philosophical, etc.?
- Is your artistic practice and expression being influenced by the changing times we live in?

RIVERS
A WCA/NH Open Members’ Exhibition
Nashua Public Library
Nashua, NH
April 6, 2024 – May 16, 2024
Flood, monotype by Loretta C.R. Hubley
Thirty-three works by twenty-two members were on display.
We celebrate the Nashua River and its fascinating eight to ten thousand years of local history: settlement, fishing, hunting for Native Americans, settlers, and for the city today. We honor the Fresh Waters Program and the high value of this beautiful watershed area as the river runs to the sea. In New Hampshire our cascading waterfalls and magnificent rocky riverbanks are valued for habitat of diverse wildlife populations as well human uses of recreation, work and energy. This exhibition centers on all aspects of rivers and our deep appreciation for everything they represent displaying a wide range of artistic interpretations.
